Join us for a professional level class, become a studio member, or drop in and use our facilities. Alchemy is home to 6 studios with specialized art equipment in ceramics, printmaking, textiles, music and recording, glass, and darkroom photography. A full monthly roster of seasonally rotating classes for children and adults. Explore our offerings, and find your way in.

Our studios
Ceramics
Forest Campus
Eight wheels, two electric kilns and studio glazes. Membership $95 a month; drop in from $10 an hour. Regular classes for kids and adults.
Printmaking
Field Campus
Two presses and a full screenprinting setup in the Art Barn. Membership $95 a month, shared with Textiles; drop in from $5 an hour.
Textiles
Field Campus
Floor looms, spinning wheels, home and industrial sewing machines and a dye station. Membership $95 a month, shared with Printmaking; drop in from $5 an hour.
Glass
Field Campus
Lampworking torches and glass kilns, one artist at a time. Start with three private classes, then $95 a month or $30 an hour.
Recording
Field Campus
A sound-deadened studio, a vocal booth and a practice room. Membership $75 a month; drop in from $15 an hour.
Darkroom
Forest Campus
Three enlargers, from 35mm to large format, and black and white chemistry. Membership $75 a month; drop in from $10 an hour.
How studio access works
Step 1
Get oriented
Come to Open Studio or take a class. Orientation is free with a full-month membership.
Step 2
Choose how you work
Drop in by the hour, or become a member for regular studio time and a free orientation.

Reserve your time
Each studio operates a little different. Some spaces need time reservation to ensure use.
Step 4
Make!
Come and work! Supplies are sold in each studio, and tuition assistance covers memberships for anyone who needs it.

Co-Working and Meeting Room
A large room for co-working at the Field Campus: $15 a day, or $10 for residents and nonprofits. Group meetings from $20 an hour, and full-floor retreats from $190 a day.

Alchemy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Grants and gifts of every size keep classes, studios and free programs open to everyone on the island. Tuition assistance is available for nearly all classes and all memberships.
