Tapestry Weaving: Painting with Yarn

  • Alchemy Art Center 1255 Wold Road Friday Harbor, WA, 98250 United States (map)

Come learn the basics of tapestry weaving! Tapestry weaving is a slow, meditative hand process that is great for using up special bits of yarn from your stash. We will learn basic stitches that are great for making landscapes and non-objective textural compositions. The process is similar to painting in that colors and shapes can be changed and moved easily until you love your piece. A wooden frame loom for you to take home is included in the price of the class.

Bring our own yarn, or choose from our stash. Wool works best, but acrylic and cotton is ok too.

This class is taught by visiting artist Jane Burleigh. Jane has developed this class based on her art practice - this is the only time she will be teaching this here at Alchemy, so if you are interested, be sure to sign up!

This class is held in the print shop on the AAC campus. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.

Date: Saturday, 6/28, 2-6pm.
